It's not really about us as much as it is about her, her being Lucy, our 120 pound Newfoundland puppy. We brought her home at 8 weeks and she showed a strong desire to chew.our shoes, our wood trim and our daughter's stuffed animal collection being special favorites.
Steve, taking up knot tying to pass away the hours on long car rides up to Lake Tahoe, decided to try making rope toys that would entertain Lucy more than a new pair of shoes. Lucy was undecided on the new rope toys being more motivated by food. Then Steve tied a knot with a treat inside.and Knotty Dogs was born.
We started making them for our family and friends who had puppies or chewers at home and everyone seemed to think they were great.especially the dogs! We began marketing them to local pet shops and our break came with the San Francisco Giants Baseball team. Every year they have a baseball game dedicated to dogs and our Knotty Dog Original was going to be the featured "give-away" to more than 800 canines!
We're going a step further than other dog toy companies by specializing in 100% cotton rope toys. We feel that natural fibers are healthier and safer than the other rope toys containing synthetic fibers. Organic dog toys?....you bet!
